Effect of spacing on evaporation and internal circulation of two identical drops

When two identical drops evaporate simultaneously in close vicinity, the vapours of one drop affect the evaporation of the neighbouring one. The evaporation rate is found to decrease. The effect decreases when the in between spacing increases. The internal circulation, which is visualized, is observed to show the same behaviour. The circulation is slower for the nearer drops, but increases and becomes equal to that of a single drop of equal size when the spacing increases. The reason is found to be the formation of a film in the surroundings, and its flow caused dominantly by the natural convection outside. The weak flow is able to sweep out the vapours formed when the distance is larger due to lower mass accumulation.
