In this note we discuss the occurrence of new metastable states in density wave ground state at low temperatures. Strong pinning centres located close to regions of commensurability give rise to plastic deformation of the DW. Relaxation times of these states are very long, in the range of hours, and they are at the origin of time-dependent heat capacitance as found experimentally.
