A model for the kinetics of phase transformation in amorphous alloys is proposed. The theoretical approach takes into account microstructural changes occurring during transformation and the interaction of as-created nuclei and growing crystallites with already crystallized regions. An integral equation for the time evolution of the transformed volume fraction is derived. It is shown that the critical radius of nuclei has significant influence on the transformation kinetics. The approximations made are accurate for low and medium fraction of transformed volume up to 25 vol%.
