An approach to the model for turbulence through symmetry reductions
Departamento de Matemáticas, Universidad de Cádiz, P.O. Box 40, 11510, Puerto Real, Cádiz, Spain
Accepted: 23 October 1998
We study the semi-empirical model for the evolution of turbulent bursts by applying the classical Lie group method of symmetry transformations. We discuss how the admitted symmetry groups depend on three undetermined parameters appearing in the model, and we prove the existence of decaying bounded travelling wave solutions for values of the parameters which are in agreement with the numerical suggestions.
