Fast driving: Effective equations of motion for classical systems

A general theory of a large class of classical dynamical systems with an external rapidly oscillating driving action is proposed. A Hamiltonian formalism is used in order to permit a straightforward transition to the statistical thermodynamics of these systems. The main result of this work are the effective equations for the mean motion.
