We present photoelectron angular distributions (PAD) in two-photon double ionization of helium for photon energies in the range of 45 eV, where the direct double ejection is unequivocally distinguishable from the sequential. Through an approach that allows us to explore the role of correlation, we obtain conditions under which the two electrons have the tendency to be emitted in the same direction. Relevant experiments should be feasible either using high-order harmonic generation or the upcoming short-wavelength free electron laser sources.
