Charge fluctuations as a possible signal of quark-gluon plasma (QGP) were recently suggested. After a short summary of the comments presented on this subject, we discuss a possible coexistence of pions produced "directly" and through a QGP phase. Such a coexistence may further obscure the expected plasma signal.
