We analyze the generalization of the one-dimensional version of a lubrication model by means of the theory of symmetry reductions of partial differential equations. It is found that some similarity solutions are solutions with physical interest: sink and source solutions, travelling-wave solutions, waiting-time solutions and blow-up solutions. Moreover some particular solutions among the above types of solutions are obtained.
