Localized Bénard-von Kármán vortex wake packets

We report experimental evidence of localized vortex distributions which were created, in the wake of three side-by-side circular cylinders, using a recent wake control method (see Hernández R. H., Baudet C. and Fauve S. Eur. Phys. J. B 14 2000 773). Vortex packets are generated through a dynamical control of the natural vortex shedding associated to the Bénard-von Kármán (BvK) instability.
