Ionisation curves for heavy elements

The ionisation of plasmas in thermodynamical equilibrium is described by the system of nonlinear equations given by Saha. A transformation to a high-grade nonlinear equation is derived. Based on the solution of that equation, ionisation curves on the examples of plutonium at normal density and thermal equilibrium are presented. The range of applicability concerning the forming of electron gas is discussed.
