The buckling behavior of an elastic disc with uniform actuation strain in a circular core region is explored via scaling concept followed by a linear stability analysis, and the post-buckling morphologies are also simulated based on a two-dimensional triangular spring-network model. Our study indicates that the buckling condition and the post-buckling morphology of the disc are sufficiently controllable by changing the radius ratio of the core to disc as well as the sign and the magnitude of the actuation strain, even if other factors such as the geometry and elastic property of the disc are fixed.
