A type of terahertz absorber is proposed, which has open-ended slit cavities within a simple sandwiched plasmonic grating. Due to a special kind of subwavelength Fabry-Pérot–like resonance, the structure shows high, multi-band, and wide-angle absorption over the terahertz frequency range. Moreover, the structure also presents strong positive or negative electromagnetic force, which can be tuned by adjusting the system parameters. The effect may be employed to drive the mechanic motions of terahertz devices.
