We study the electromagnetic response on surfaces overlaid with a grating. By tailoring the interface material parameters and the grating thickness, we excite resonant states of large wave vectors that enabled the electric field intensity at the surface to be increased by more than two orders of magnitude than previous results. The physics behind this is discussed.
