The radio-optical Mx magnetometer in response to a magnetic field of arbitrary direction is observed theoretically and experimentally. Based on the built theoretical model, the magnetometer frequency response to an external magnetic field of arbitrary direction is simulated, and the magnetometer characteristics, including the signal phase, the signal amplitude at resonance, the linewidth and the magnetometer sensitivity, are analyzed. The dependences of these characteristics on the direction of the external magnetic field are obtained, which are verified by the experiment.
