The charge and current densities of a structured particle are discussed and, for the case of small particles, expressed in terms of the charge and the electric and magnetic dipoles of the particle. The action for the motion of such particles in external electromagnetic fields is studied and the corresponding energy and momenta are investigated. It is seen that these contain the so-called hidden momenta, which do not vanish even when the particle is at rest.
