Inelastic neutron scattering measurements are reported for Rb0.55 (ND4)0.45D2PO4 at temperatures well above the TDIC where diffuse incommensurate freezing at wave vector occurs. They reveal, in addition to a central peak, a branch whose relaxation rate is smallest at and which softens on cooling. A weak pseudo-antiferroelectric diffuse scattering is also observed that freezes near TDIC. A scenario is proposed to describe comprehensively the freezing of these proton glasses.
