Density dependence of the nuclear symmetry energy in a relativistic mean-field approach
Physics Department, Atomic Energy Commission of Syria, P.O. Box 6091, Damascus, Syria
Accepted: 29 September 1999
The dependence of the nuclear symmetry energy and of the bulk symmetry energy on density are studied in the relativistic mean-field theory for nuclear matter. The comparison between the results for the non-linear model and for the standard model shows the importance of the nuclear symmetry energy in understanding the properties of neutron-rich nuclei.
