The recent proposal of a parabolic profile as a practical and useful approximation for all plasma sheath potentials is checked against the numerical results obtained from a self-consistent description of a dusty plasma near a conductive wall. The hypothesis of the parabolic nature of the electric potential is confirmed for low particle densities but is seemingly not obeyed for higher, yet reasonable, densities.
