A new method is presented for the study of the atomic structure of solids. It is based on the angular-integrated measurement of the elastically scattered angstrom wavelength radiation. Beside the theoretical description, which is based on the kinematical approach, we illustrate experimentally the feasibility of the method. In its simple version the method gives information similar to the Patterson map. However, with slight modification it provides the same element specific 3D structure as atomic resolution holography. Further, it has advantages both over traditional diffraction and holography. It is sensitive to the short-range order, which means that it gives the atomic order even for bad crystals, or non-translation periodic systems. It can image systems containing only light atoms, which is not possible by holography with inside reference point.
