The chattering dynamics of an ideal bouncing ball

The chattering dynamics of a vibrated bouncing ball is studied numerically in reduced impact representation. A new family of chattering bands is revealed and their structure analyzed in detail. Its possible coexistence with a strange attractor is also considered.
