Arbitrary-amplitude dust-acoustic (DA) solitary waves in a strongly coupled dusty plasma are theoretically investigated by the pseudo-potential approach. The effective dust-thermal energy, which arises from the electrostatic interactions among highly charged dust, has been taken into account. The results are compared with recent laboratory observations of Bandyopadhyay et al. (Phys. Rev. Lett., 101 (2008) 065006), and are found to have some good agreements with them.
